Our Mission: Through Student learning, Strategic Teaching, teamwork, and flexibility, all Wallowa School District students will become successful and positive contributors to society.

I-Ready is a new reading and math test and curriculum that Wallowa Elementary School has adopted to help provide instructional level support to ALL students in the school.  The students begin by taking a diagnostic test.  A diagnostic test will adapt according to the student answers and eventually place them at an instructional level.  Each day, the students login to their math and reading I-Ready accounts to learn and practice the skills needed to advance their learning.  Students are also able to login at home, or any computer with internet access.  This is a great way to help your child at home!

Oregon Response to Instruction & Intervention

Wallowa Elementary School applied for and recieved a grant from the Oregon Repsonse to Intstruction and Intervention group.  This grant has allowed Wallowa Elementary School begin implementing Reponse to Instruction and Intervention (RTIi).  The purpose of ORTIi is to provide technical assistance to Oregon school districts implementing Response to Intervention (RTI) systems that provide targeted, effective instruction to meet the needs of all students and provide the framework to identify students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD). The focus of the project is on literacy, early intervention, and the use of evidenced-based practices.

You may have noticed the new posters hanging around Wallowa Elementary School.  These new posters are the helpful reminders to staff and students about expected behaviors in all areas of the building.  Last year, staff worked on the plan to help set students up for what is expected of them and to teach them school ettiquette.  This summer, the staff finished up their hard work and created the posters and lessons to implement the new expectations this year.
